Saguaro Cactus as Memento Mori
The light colored object near the cave wall is a young saguaro cactus. Someone had pulled it from the ground and left it in the place where a migrant’s body was recovered in 2014.
Atlas Vertabre
This is an atlas vertebra that was found just outside of the shallow cave. It is the vert vertebra in the spinal column that connects the spine to the base of the skull.

Emergency Migrant Beacon
The small red dot far off on the horizon is an emergency beacon. It flashes off and on all night long to signal where to go for help if people stranded in the desert. However these beacons are monitored by seismic sensors and motion activated cameras which are searching for migrants activity. Once a migrant goes to the beacon Border Patrol arrives arresting migrants seeking water or help.
Migrant's Shoe
Many shoes found along migrant trails are purposely cut to help reduce swollen feet and alleviate the pain of broken toes.
